Mariangela Rinaldi has drawn and painted since childhood. From earliest artistic memory she was attracted to the beauty of the human form, and sought an outlet for that expression.
Originally, Mariangela honed her figurative style primarily using charcoal and also soft pastel. She then turned to acrylic paint for its versatility and permanence, and her focus began to shift toward life vignettes: intimate scenes that capture persons in fleeting, candid moments. In these works, Mariangela is less concerned with the pose and more focused on the lived experience of the subject.
Mariangela is also inspired by the interplay of person, place, and time in her subject matter. Most recently, these are told in an Evocative Travel Memories series. They are travel-inspired paintings that don’t merely depict persons, a village, or landscape, but convey the emotional resonance of a setting in a particular moment. In these works, her hope is that each piece evokes a visceral connection to the location and time in which the painting was conceived.
