Helen Ziga is a Marietta, Georgia-based artist whose practice centers on constructed relief works exploring the relationships between color, form, depth, and movement. Her work draws from American modernism and geometric abstraction, as well as the color, pattern, craft, and visual traditions of Eastern European folk art. She is particularly interested in the space between structure and intuition – beginning with simple geometric forms and allowing the composition to evolve through an intuitive process of arranging, rearranging, and constructing. Dimensional surfaces bring light, shadow, and reflection into the work, creating an experience that changes as the viewer moves around it.

Ziga grew up with an educator mother and chemist father, an environment that fostered an early interest in both art and science. She earned a BA from Albright College and an MFA from Ohio University. Her early career included teaching art and graphic design, textile and graphic design work in China and Taiwan, and creative project management for a global healthcare technology company. She later worked with the Hambidge Center for the Arts and Sciences and collaborated with the Urban Art Collective in Chamblee, Georgia, supporting local arts initiatives.

Since 2022, Ziga has devoted herself fully to her studio practice. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at venues including KAI LIN ART (Atlanta), Yellow Studio NY, ARC Chicago, Agnes Scott College, COOP Gallery (Nashville), MOCA GA (Atlanta), Oceanside Museum of Art (California), the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, the Curators (Paris), and the Limner Gallery (Hudson, New York). She has participated in the Drawing Center’s Emerging Artist Program and currently participates in the Art Files program at the Painting Center in New York. Her work is also held in private and institutional collections and has been included in long-term hospitality placements.
