George Bundrick

George Bundrick is a representational oil painter based in Asheville, North Carolina. Their work centers around human connection to the natural world, as well as the people found within. Bundrick’s experience in the Blue Ridge Mountains has been intensely formative, from moments of self discovery in the wilderness to growing up with found family, and the healing that ensues. Using inspiration from 19th Century Impressionists and Naturalists, subjects are softly and gently rendered, usually depicting portraits of loved ones in tender moments within the local landscape. Their work serves as a statement of gratitude to the formative experiences of people and place, as well as a testament to the healing that comes with connection. Currently a senior student in the University of North Carolina Asheville’s BFA Painting program, Bundrick plans to finish their degree and proceed to an MFA program with the goal of eventually teaching painting.
