From the Outer Banks to the Blue Ridge
Exhibit from May 1 – June 15, 2025

Kelli Scott

I am a contemporary visual artist from the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia, now living and working in Huntersville, North Carolina. My work reflects a deep love for both painting and the traditional music of the United States—two passions I’ve spent years weaving together. During the pandemic, I picked up the banjo and became immersed in its complex, layered history, which mirrors the broader American story.

Growing up surrounded by the natural beauty and rich culture of Appalachia, I was fortunate to receive private art instruction throughout my childhood, allowing me to experiment with various mediums and develop a strong foundation in design. I later earned a degree in Studio Art and Comparative Religions from Sweet Briar College—a combination that reflects my lifelong curiosity about what inspires people and cultures around the world.

Nothing brings me more joy than a full day in the studio, music turned on, following the thread of creativity to see where it leads.

Thanks for taking the time to experience my work—I’m grateful to share it with you.
