CALL FOR ARTISTS
“TAR HEEL ART” EXHIBITION
UPMARKET GALLERY IN ASHEVILLE, NC
MAY 1 – JUNE 15, 2025
APPLICATION RULES & GUIDELINES

This exhibition is open to residents of North Carolina who are 18 years of age or older.

Applications will be received for art in the following mediums: Painting, drawing, mixed media art, jewelry, printmaking, and also sculpture made with clay, glass, wood, fiber, stone, metal or mixed media.

For this exhibition, the following mediums will not be accepted: photography, digital art, installation art and art made using artificial intelligence.

All artwork submitted for this exhibition must be original, not a reproduction. The exception is for printmakers, who must list the number of the print on the item.

In the submission process, artists will upload a maximum of three images of artwork to be considered when completing the entry form, with title/medium/size listed. Image quality should be clear and professional.

This is a competitive juried opportunity; not all artists will be accepted. A non-refundable application fee of $25 applies.

All artworks submitted by the artist must be for sale. Artists retain 60% of the sale price, Gallery will collect a 40% commission.

All applicants will be notified of the results of their submission by email within two weeks of the deadline.

Selected artists will hand deliver the works accepted in late April 2025. The gallery will provide dates and times for delivery. If the artist wishes to ship accepted artwork, they will bear the cost of transportation, both ways if work is unsold.

All accepted artworks will be fully insured from date of receiving the art until the close of the exhibition, while they are in the gallery. 

Applicant affirms that all artwork submitted for consideration is their own original work, and permits UpMarket Gallery to use images of their artwork to promote the exhibition on social media platforms, email newsletters, and in print form. All images are the property of the artist and the artist retains the sole copyright to their work.

About Our Juror: Carolyn Graham Edlund

Carolyn Graham Edlund is the founder of Artsy Shark, a “top ten” art website started in 2009 that features and promotes emerging artists. With a background as the owner of a production studio and art sales rep, she has acted as an art business expert, writer, speaker for the past 15 years. She has juried and judged more than 50 visual art competitions and has extensive experience as a curator.
