Seeking escape from the pressures of her design career, Linsey revisited her earliest passion. One day while cleaning her workspace, she came across leftover sheets of birch and basswood from school—you know, when architectural models were still handmade. Curious how charcoal would work on wood, she discovered its unique textures and unpredictability, offering the creative therapy she had been longing for.
Embracing intuition and imperfection, Linsey’s art explores finding peace in moments of discomfort. From making each batch of charcoal to meticulously applying a cold wax finish and building every frame, her entire process has evolved into a deeply cathartic practice.
Linsey’s studio is located at Resurrection Studios Collective just north of Downtown Asheville in Five Points—an up-and-coming area that blends chic, camp, retro nostalgia, and creative history.
Beyond the easel, Linsey continues to put her design skills to use, translating select artworks across home textiles, bespoke furnishings, and wallcoverings. She and her husband live in a cozy A-frame just outside the city with their 4-yr-old daughter and three dogs.
