As a child, Sarah St. Laurent’s fascination with fire once got her into trouble—but that early curiosity has since evolved into a lifelong passion for exploring heat and transformation through art.

Art in all its forms has always played an essential role in Sarah’s life. Her creative journey began in childhood art classes and deepened while studying Horticulture at Texas A&M University, where the Craft Center proved as influential as the greenhouses.

Inspired by nature’s textures and materials, Sarah’s work reflects her connection to the natural world. Since discovering encaustic painting in 2007, it has remained her primary medium. She has studied extensively with leading artists in the field and continues to experiment with innovative techniques. Sarah’s practice blends encaustic wax with textiles, printmaking, photography, hand-built structures, and collage—merging organic and crafted elements into layered, luminous compositions.

A member of Asheville’s River Arts District since 2018, Sarah maintains a working studio there, welcoming visitors daily to explore her evolving body of work.
