museums and research labs before deciding to earn my Master’s of Arts in Teaching at Tufts University.
For over 20 years, I’ve taught art, science, and gifted enrichment to students from PK-12th grades across Boston, Atlanta, and Chicago. In 2023, I returned to the mountains of North Carolina, where I now teach at Sand Hill-Venable Elementary School. What I love most about teaching art is the opportunity to combine all of my
passions into creative projects that leave a lasting impression on my students.
Creative projects in school inspired my own love for learning, and I hope my students have a similar experience. When the modern world feels overwhelming, I reconnect with the place my family has called home for generations. I seek out new trails, explore forests, and climb some of the highest peaks in the Smokies. Being surrounded by nature brings me peace and a sense of comfort in the mountains I know so well. My artwork reflects this solitude and serenity, capturing the calm that these places bring me. I hope viewers can experience that same peace when they engage with my paintings.
